Write Your Main Essay in One Day – Leave with a Polished Draft

The Varsity Vine Main Essay Writing Boot Camp is divided into four parts:

  1. Prior to the Writing Boot Camp, your student will have one 30-minute session in person or on a call with the Varsity Vine Strategic Team to determine the student’s own personal “Vine” (ie. the elevator pitch).
  2. Next, the student will build upon their “Vine” statement in a 30 minute 1-on-1 in-person meeting or call to brainstorm and select the Main Essay Topic with our team. Choosing the topic involves an overall application strategy and is a specific and critical step in creating a beautifully layered application.
  3. Step three: it’s time for your student to write! The Writing Camp itself will meet in person at the Varsity Vine offices at The Schoolhouse (720 Magnolia Street, Suite 6) or can be arranged virtually. Each session will span two-and-a-half hours and will be led by an experienced instructor in college application essay writing. Our instructor has guided students in essay writing for several years, with students achieving admission to a wide range of colleges and universities, including Boston College, Chapman University (film program), Dartmouth, Davidson, Georgia Tech, NYU, UCLA, Michigan, USC (California), St. Andrews (Scotland), UVA, and William and Mary, among others.

Varsity Vine students will receive on-site, expert, comprehensive guidance on how to approach the Main Essay, instructed on a specific Varsity Vine format that succeeds, and receive individual feedback and advice on their work as well as end-of-day proofreading for mechanics. Students will receive resources, including examples of actual Varsity Vine essays that have worked. Your student should leave the Writing Camp with a polished draft. If not, you can attend a second Writing Boot Camp for free!
  • Lastly, after the Writing Camp, we ask that students not look at their essay for 1-2 weeks. The best writing always needs time to marinate!
  • We encourage students to complete a free, second, follow-up Writing Camp to strengthen their essay through final brainstorming, reading aloud, proofreading, and final 1-on-1 editing. We also encourage the student to show the essay to their parents, grandparents, siblings, best friends, valued teachers, guidance counselors, or anyone else from whom they would value feedback.

Make Your Activity and Honors List Descriptions Shine and Rock “Your Vine”! – Completed in One Day

The Varsity Vine Activities and Honors List Writing Camp is a critical piece of the Common Application.

The order and type of activities, the format, the mechanics, and the values expressed in this section together create a story of who the applicant is today – and will be on a college campus the following year.

In many ways, this section is the most critical of the creative writing pieces the student will complete – and Varsity Vine has a proven strategy on how to successfully tackle it.
